EUF LIAISON: Why isn't Erasmus+ carbon neutral?

We would like to draw your attention to the recently published article, which we hope will be thought-provoking and stimulate debate.

"Comparing Erasmus+ with Formula 1 might seem silly – the social impact of student mobility is objectively incomparable – but there's one important commonality: in both cases, it's the transportation that accounts for the bulk of the carbon footprint of both activities."

How can the benefits of Erasmus+ be sustained for the next generation of students, while meeting their values and not aggravating environmental challenges?

We also take this opportunity to reinforce the invitation to the Student Mobility Summit – "More Mobility, Less Carbon Footprint", which will take place at the University of Barcelona on 4-6 February 2025.

The summit will bring together dedicated international relations professionals who want to ensure that the next generation can enjoy the empowering and sometimes life-changing effects of international mobility while minimising its environmental impact.
