Excursion – Moldova: Between Soviet Legacy and European Integration
21–25 September 2026
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration (Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University), together with the Chair for Eastern European History at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU Düsseldorf), invites students to apply for the international excursion “Moldova: Between Soviet Legacy and European Integration.”
The excursion will take place from September 21 to September 25, 2026, and will bring together students and lecturers from Moldova, Ukraine, and Germany. Over five days, participants will explore how Moldova’s Soviet past continues to shape its political institutions, society, and identity, and how the country is navigating its path toward European Union membership.
The programme includes:
Case studies on Moldova’s post-Soviet transformation and EU accession process
Comparative sessions linking Moldova’s experience to Ukraine’s past, heritage politics and own European integration path
Group work, debates, meetings, excursions, and other activities in Chisinau and surroundings
Who can apply
The international excursion is open to Bachelor’s and Master’s students of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration and the Departments of History (Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University).
English B2 level or higher is required, as all sessions will be conducted in English.

Places in the International excursion are limited and will be awarded on a competitive basis. To take part in the selection, please complete the application (Google) form using the link below and answer all questions as fully as possible. Transport and accommodation will be covered by HHU Düsseldorf (funded by DAAD).
