The Conference of the University’s labor collective took place in the Red Hall of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University on the 22nd of January. 97 delegates participated in the event out of 105 selected.

Participants of the Conference honored the fallen defenders of Ukraine and those who used to work in the University that passed away in 2025 with a minute of silence.

The first issue on the agenda was the report by Ruslan Biloskurskyi, the rector of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, on the University’s activity in 2025. In his speech, the rector highlighted that 2025 became a special and tough year for the University at the same time, since it took place during the ongoing full-scale invasion and was marked by celebrating 150 years since the Day of CHNU’s founding.

Results of educational activity were presented, such as the process and conclusions of the admissions campaign, the contingent dynamics of students, the work on accrediting educational programs, the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel, and advanced training of teachers. Special attention was given in the report to scientific and innovative activity, the University’s participation in grant and international projects, the development of academic mobility, and collaboration with international partners.

The rector also emphasized the issues of digital transformation, staffing policy, financial and economic activity, material and technical resources, and the preservation of the University’s heritage. The University’s role in volunteering and supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine was highlighted, as well as the importance of institutional resilience and the collective’s unity in the state of martial law.

The second issue on the agenda was a report by Vitalii Kindzerskyi, the Head of the Trade Union Committee, on the activity of the Trade Union of Teachers and Staff at CHNU in 2025. It was mentioned in the report that the Trade Union’s work was focused on protecting labor and socio-economic rights of the University staff, participating in collective bargaining, developing a social support system, and improving communication with the Trade Union members.

The Head of the Trade Union Committee talked about updating the structure and activity of the Union’s bodies, implementing modern tools of communication, especially updating the official website and creating a Viber channel, and executing the «ProfBonus» Trade Union project of loyalty. Partnership initiatives, cultural, educational and sportive projects, specifically  «The weekend tour», and volunteering and supporting the AFU were highlighted separately.

Personnel issues regarding forming the membership of the Academic Council of the University were brought up on the conference. The conference’s delegates approved of the candidacies of elected representatives of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and the Institute of Biology, Chemistry and Bioresources, who are now members of the University’s Academic Council.

The Conference of the labor collective approved of the reports presented and gave them a high rating based on the work results.
