On 3 December, the Chernivtsi Regional Centre for Aesthetic Education “The Youth of Bukovyna” hosted a festive event organised by the Centre for Culture and Leisure of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and the Department for Educational Work and Humanitarian Education with the support of the Student Trade Union and the Student Parliament.
The event aimed to promote Ukrainian traditions, unite student youth, and support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The main goal was to raise funds for the purchase of anti-drone ponchos for the 65th Separate Mechanised Brigade, where Rostyslav Muravin, an actor of the Chernivtsi Music and Drama Theatre, serves.
At the beginning of the event, Iryna Osovska, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Humanitarian Work thanked the participants, partners and all those present for supporting Ukrainian traditions and volunteer initiatives of the university.
The programme of the event included a variety of performances illustrating traditional winter holidays: fortune-telling on St Catherine's Day, St Andrew's Evenings, a festive nativity scene, rebel carols, Malanka celebrations, Christmas Eve, New Year's rituals, etc. The participants demonstrated their talents through singing, dancing, theatrical performances and musical numbers.
The jury consisted of:
- Mykola Shkribliak – ethnographer, stage costume designer, master of folk art, journalist, teacher, director of the Bukovyna Centre for Culture and Art, Honoured Artist of Ukraine;
- Larysa Kushnir – Head of the Department for Educational Work and Humanitarian Education;
- Nadiia Vovk – vocal and choral methodologist at the Chernivtsi Regional Centre for Aesthetic Education “The Youth of Bukovyna”, Honourable Worker of Education of Ukraine, winner of the Omelian Popovych Regional Prize;
- Viktoriia Hatrych – communications manager, top presenter, and soloist of the Victoria show group;
- Ivan Paraskiva – winner of national and international competitions, conductor of the Andrii Kushnirenko Honoured Bukovyna Song and Dance Ensemble.
The partners of the event were the Olha Kobylianska Chernivtsi Drama Theatre, Cultural and Arts Center of Ivan Mykolaichuk, Dmytro Hnatiuk Chernivtsi Regional Philharmonic, Pronto Pizza, StarMax, JoyMarket, Ribs and Fire, and Ochi Photo Studio.

All winners received a cash prize from the event sponsors raising a total sum of UAH 23,806. This amount will be used to help the military defend Ukraine.
Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University expresses its gratitude to everyone who contributed to the organisation and holding of the event. Together we proved that the strength of our nation lies in traditions, culture and mutual support. Belief in victory and peace remains our main goal, and such events are another step towards this common dream.
