Admission to Higher Education Institutions of foreigners and stateless persons is carried out in accordance with the Laws of Ukraine "On Higher Education", "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons", "On Ukrainians Abroad", "On Refugees and Persons in Need of Additional or of Temporary Protection", by the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated June 3, 1994 No. 271 "On measures to develop economic cooperation of the regions of Ukraine with adjacent regions of the Republic of Belarus and administrative-territorial units of the Republic of Moldova" (except for entrants from the Republic of Belarus), by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated September 12, 2018 No. 729 "Issues of obtaining higher education by certain categories of persons", by order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated November 1, 2013 No. 1541 "Some issues of organization of recruitment and training (internship) of foreigners and stateless persons", registered in the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine November 25, 2013 according to No. 2004/24536, by order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated December 2, 2019 No. 1498 "On approval of the Procedure for setting quotas for obtaining higher education by foreigners and stateless persons within the scope of the state order in accordance with international treaties of Ukraine" registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on February 10, 2020 under No. 153/34436.
Admission of foreign entrants to study at the expense of physical/legal entities can be carried out:
- twice a year, before and at the beginning of the academic semesters (but no later than November 30 and March 1, respectively), for obtaining Bachelor's and Master's degrees;
- during the year (from September 1 to May 30) to study at preparatory courses for foreign citizens;
- during the year for postgraduate studies, doctoral studies.
How to get an invitation to study?
- fill out the application-questionnaire and send by e-mail to the Admissions Committee of the university [email protected] with a request for admission to the university
- write a Motivation Letter
- to issue a written consent to the processing of personal data
- send a copy of the passport (full name, citizenship, date of birth, passport number, address of permanent residence) in English
- send a copy of the education document with a list of subjects studied and grades in English
How to get an Entry Visa
To obtain an Entry visa for the purpose of studying in Ukraine, the applicant applies to the Embassy of Ukraine in his or a neighbouring country with an application for obtaining an Entry visa, adding to the application an invitation to study at CHNU.
The full-scale military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine made direct air communication with Ukraine impossible. At the moment, an applicant can enter the territory of Ukraine only by land from the territory of neighbouring European countries. To cross the territory of neighbouring European countries, the applicant must obtain a Transit visa.
After receiving a Study visa (D) and a Transit visa, the applicant must send a photo of all tickets with the time and date of arrival to CHNU in order to inform the checkpoint at the border of Ukraine and to ensure the organization of a meeting with the applicant by a representative of the University.
How to pass Customs Control?
Upon arrival to the Ukrainian border, to pass customs control, foreigners must have with them:
- passport with "D" visa
- the original Invitation to Study
- money in the amount of at least $3,000 (three thousand) US dollars in cash or on a card to confirm your financial solvency
- to know the purpose of coming to Ukraine
If at least one of the above items is not fulfilled, the foreigner will not be allowed to enter the territory of Ukraine by border control.
Upon arrival for study, foreigners must submit the following documents, legalized in accordance with the established procedure, to the admissions committee:
- application to the rector of the University
- original passport with an entry visa that is valid for at least one month at the time of the applicant's arrival at the University
- translation of the first page of the passport into Ukrainian (surname, first name), notarized on the territory of Ukraine – 3 copies
- the original document on education (certificate or diploma) with its appendix (list of subjects with grades) and their translations into Ukrainian, notarized on the territory of Ukraine – 2 copies. The originals of education documents must be legalized or have an apostille in accordance with the legislation of the applicant's country of origin;
- 6 photos, size 3.5x4.5 cm, colour, matte
For admission to study at the university, foreigners submit the following documents:
- Application-questionnaire;
- the original of the Invitation to Study at the University;
- originals and 2 copies of a document about previous education and an appendix to it, which contains information about his success in academic subjects, with a notarized translation into Ukrainian;
- three copies of a foreigner's passport document or a document certifying a stateless person with a notarized Ukrainian translation;
- 6 photo cards measuring 30x40 mm; 6 photo cards measuring 35x45 mm;
- the original Certificate of Completion of the Preparatory Department (if available);
- copies of passports, documents on previous education and a medical certificate on health status must be certified in the country of their issuance in the manner that is officially used in this country for such certification, and legalized by the relevant foreign diplomatic institution of Ukraine, unless otherwise provided by international treaties of Ukraine.
A condition for enrolling a foreigner in studies to obtain a certain degree is his command of the language of study at a level sufficient to master the study material, which is confirmed by the conclusion of the Admissions Committee.
The Entrance tests for foreign citizens and stateless persons upon admission to study for a Bachelor's degree on the basis of a complete general secondary education are an Entrance Exam in the language of instruction (Ukrainian or English) and an Entrance Exam in a profile discipline for the relevant specialty.
The Entrance tests for foreign citizens and stateless persons when enrolling to study for a Bachelor's or Master's degree based on a previously obtained relevant degree or educational qualification level are an Entrance Exam in the language of instruction (Ukrainian or English) and an Entrance Exam based on the programme of the relevant Professional Exam.
The dates for conducting Entrance tests are set by the Admissions Committee, but no later than November 30, 2023.
The Entrance Exam programmes are published on the official website of the university.
All categories of foreigners enrolled in studies are admitted to the university on the basis of enrolment orders formed in the Unified State Electronic Database on Education (USEDE).
After enrolling in studies, foreigners must:
- draw up an agreement on the provision of educational services (studying)
- pay tuition fees
- provide the necessary documents for issuing a temporary residence permit on the territory of Ukraine for the duration of the study
- issue an insurance policy for the provision of medical assistance
- draw up a contract of voluntary liability insurance for reimbursement of expenses related to the execution of the decision on deportation outside of Ukraine
- carry out the procedure of nostrification of education documents at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine during the first semester
The issuance of a temporary residence permit for the period of study is carried out in the bodies of the State Migration Service of Ukraine on the basis of a written application of the University, which is prepared by the International Office. The appeal is submitted no later than three working days from the date of submission of all necessary documents by the foreigner to the University.
Students of ChNU are provided with a dormitory.
Classes at the preparatory department can begin in any month of the academic year as groups of 6 people are formed; duration of training – 10 months. In most cases, classes begin on September 1 as academic groups fill up.
