The University History Museum was founded by order of the Rector of the university, Roman Petryshyn, in September 2020. The task of the museum is to study and display in the exposition both the past and present achievements of the university, and to contribute to the improvement of the image. Reflection in the exposition of the traditions of scientific research and study, coverage of the life and activities of famous graduates, reflection of student life. After all, this is the intangible cultural heritage that must be preserved.
Currently, more than 5,000 exhibits have been collected. Among them, scientific descriptions of 1,000 exhibits were studied, developed, and compiled. It was possible to collect such a number of monuments thanks to the dedicated employees and graduates of the university. Special thanks should be expressed to the employees of the Scientific Library of the University.
The collected exhibits are identified by preservation groups and entered in the relevant accounting books of the museum. Each exhibit has a Scientifically Unified Passport with a photograph of the attraction. When photographing monuments, the possibility of their subsequent entry into the digital database of the university's museum collections is taken into account.
At the end of 2022 – the beginning of 2023, with the assistance of the director of the Institute for German Culture and History of Southeastern Europe at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (IKGS), Florian Kührer-Wielach, the University Museum of History received equipment, which will ensure the preservation of exhibits in proper conditions (thermohygrometers, dehumidifiers and humidifiers, racks, metal cabinets and safes), as well as technical devices for copying and fixing museum exhibits (camera, scanner and printer).
