Since 2012, the Trade Union organisation of students of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University has been holding a charity event, St Nicholas Hurries to Every Child, which involves the university's faculties and educational and research institutes, as well as everyone else. This year, the campaign raised a record 183 thousand hryvnias.
Three main stages of the campaign were implemented:
- Cosmetic renovation of a room for a large family in difficult living conditions.
- Helping children from low-income families, which included: personalised food packages and clothes for each child, as well as a month's supply of formula for two babies; furniture for four families; a TV set was purchased for one family, and utility bills were partially paid off; all families were provided with lighting devices that will help during power outages.
- Preparation and delivery of 90 sweet packages for St. Nicholas Day for children with disabilities.
This year, we managed to organise a holiday for 17 children from 7 families living in difficult life circumstances in the Chernivtsi city territorial community. The children happily met St. Nicholas and thanked him for the gifts they had been waiting for.
