As part of developing a therapeutic horticulture program, the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University Botanical Garden has initiated a collaboration with the Chernivtsi Regional Hospital for War Veterans.
On May 2nd, a meeting took place at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University between representatives of the Chernivtsi Regional Hospital for War Veterans, a communal non-profit enterprise, and the university, led by Rector Ruslan Biloskurskyi. The delegation from the hospital was headed by Vitaliy Polataichuk, acting general director. Also representing the medical facility were Diana Kucheryava, deputy general director for economic affairs, and Natalia Didenko, a physical therapist. Tetiana Derevenko, director of the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University Botanical Garden, was also present at the meeting.
By signing a joint memorandum, both parties confirmed their mutual interest in collaborating to improve the psycho-emotional state of active servicemen, war veterans, and individuals discharged from service due to health or other reasons. Special attention will be given to therapy using natural environments, gardening, and the organization of educational, cultural, scientific, and social events.
The main forms of interaction between the university and the regional communal non-profit enterprise will include:
- Organizing excursions to the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University Botanical Garden.
- Conducting therapeutic horticulture classes.
- Developing and implementing rehabilitation programs using therapeutic horticulture methods.
- Holding joint workshops and events to improve psycho-emotional well-being.
- Implementing joint scientific research, preparing publications, and participating in conferences.
- Developing and executing joint projects to participate in grant competitions and donor programs.
The memorandum signed by the parties is for a period of five years. It's expected that this cooperation will result in the creation of effective rehabilitation approaches that will positively impact the quality of life for Ukraine's defenders.
We hope that this initiative will serve as an example of care and gratitude, and most importantly, bring real benefits to veterans. We wish everyone who has gone through difficult trials the quickest possible recovery, peace of mind, and confidence in the future.
