Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University Launches Large-Scale European Project SEDWU for Workflow Digitization (Erasmus+)

Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University has officially launched its participation in the international project SEDWU (Scalable Electronic Document Workflow for Universities) under the European Union's Erasmus+ program (Capacity Building in Higher Education). The project officially commenced on October 1. It aims to fundamentally transform document management approaches in higher education institutions, enhancing their autonomy, efficiency, and supporting the European integration of Ukrainian universities.

The consortium's primary goal is the design and implementation of a scalable Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) that meets European standards, ensures high levels of cybersecurity under martial law, and facilitates barrier-free and transparent data exchange. Digital transformation is "a marathon, not a sprint," and SEDWU provides the necessary infrastructure for this long-distance journey. Our university team plays a pivotal role in the initiative. Building on the successful implementation of our own EDMS "idoc" and the innovative "Digital University" system (based on ERP Odoo), YFCNU experts are actively involved in:

  • Workflow Analysis and Optimization (WP2): Assessment of existing systems, user needs, and cyber risks.

  • Configuration and Implementation (WP5): Direct participation in configuring the new comprehensive system.

  • Dissemination of Results (WP6): Information support, event organization, and preparation for the final international conference.

We strive to create an environment where information is structured, decisions are data-driven, and routine bureaucratic procedures are minimized, freeing up time for research and teaching. The project unites leading European and Ukrainian institutions. The Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (IFNUL) serves as the coordinator.

The international partnership also includes:

  • Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania)

  • Rzeszów University of Technology (Poland)

  • And a number of leading Ukrainian higher education institutions and IT clusters.

Three years of productive collaboration, active meetings, and the development of innovative solutions lie ahead, involving the administration, faculty, and students of our university.
