“Women in the Armed Forces of Ukraine”: A Play About Strength and Resilience

On September 24, the Centre of Culture and Leisure of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University hosted a theatrical performance titled “Women in the AFU”, prepared by the student theatre studio “Maska”.

The audience was presented with ten inspiring stories of Ukrainian servicewomen. Among them: Marusya Zvirobiy, a shooting instructor; Yuliia Paievska (Taira), the legendary paramedic; Kateryna Polishchuk (Ptashka), a defender of Azovstal, and others. The play told the story of their bravery, challenges, and contribution to Ukraine’s defence.

The event was held with the support of NGO “Ukrainian-German Cultural Society of Chernivtsi”, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, and Chernivtsi House of Aesthetics and Leisure, as part of the “Together We Can” Empowerment Resilience Building Programme for Community Leaders in Ukraine.

Like all events organised by the Centre of Culture and Leisure of CHNU, the performance served a charitable purpose. This time, funds were raised for the 32nd Mechanized Brigade and Igor Dyachenko, an engineer of the Chernivtsi Drama Theatre. A total of 2,600 UAH was collected.
