The first university-wide festival «We were united by the University», dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, took place in Palace «Academic» on the 22nd of October. The Faculty of Economics became the initiator and organizer of the event.
The festival united students, teachers, alumni, and friends of the University, since its main theme was love born in CHNU’s walls. Stories of five couples of students, whose first encounters, feelings, and shared dreams began over here, in dear Alma Mater, were in the center of the event.
Iryna Osovska, vice-rector for international relations and humanitarian work, Roman Hreshko, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, and Nataliia Filipchuk, his deputy for social and humanitarian activities and image policy, who was also the event’s director and ideological inspirer, addressed all the people present at the festival’s opening.
The festival consisted of three parts:
• a theatrical block, during which the audience embarked on a journey across the city’s historical places together with Pan Yarko, the legendary Chernivtsi city guide;
• «Love Story», where video stories of students’ couples came to life on the screen;
• a dance feerie, featuring the «Neogalactica» folk art dance ensemble (head –Olha Halak).
The announcement of the couple, in honor of which a nominal park bench of love will be established on the territory of the Residence of Bukovinian and Dalmatian Metropolitans, which is a symbol of eternal stories of the University, became the evening’s special event.
Among the members of the jury were married couples of the University’s teachers and staff members, in particular Ruslan Biloskurskyi, rector, and Olena Biloskurska, Associate Professor at the Department of Public Law, Dmytro and Iryna Fedortsovy, Roman Hreshko and Violeta Kharabara, Myroslav and Oksana Zaiachuk, Ruslan and Hanna Bezpalky, and others.
Perfomances by the chamber symphony quartet of Chernivtsi regional philharmonic and trio «Viva Classic», which consists of Volodymyr Fisiuk, Honored Artist of Ukraine, Bohdana Zaitseva-Cheban, and Iryna Kozlova took place within the framework of the festival.
Alumni of the Faculty of Economics, who are also representatives of business, became the partons of the festival. Among them are as follows: Vadym Komov («Vikna Styl»), Iryna Tymchuk («Grandem, PP»), Myroslav Penteleichuk («White Story»), Mykhailo Navolskyi («Mishyn City»), Roman Korzhak (the blago company), Oksana Petrenko (fund «Ukraine is invincible»), and other partners. Thanks to their support the couples got valuable presents – gift certificates for romantic weekends, photoshoots, wedding dresses, household appliances, etc.
The joint performance of the song «Marichka» became the evening’s culmination, when all the participants of the festival got on stage, proving that the University is not just a place for earning knowledge. It is also a space where true life stories begin.
