The launch of the educational and awareness-raising project "Weekend University Day 2026"!

On 28 March, the educational and awareness-raising project "Weekend University Day 2026" was launched! It is worth noting that this is the second time the project has been run, which demonstrates its relevance and the level of interest it generates among young people.

The grand opening took place in the atmospheric Shevchenko Hall, where pupils from Years 9 to 11 had gathered. The event was opened by the project organiser, Viktoria Horobets, a specialist from the Communications and Branding Department. She welcomed the participants, outlined the terms of the project and emphasised the importance of such initiatives, which help young people make an informed choice about their future career.

Next to address the audience was Yurii Khalavka, Vice-Rector for Research, who highlighted the significance of science, development and the opportunities available to the university’s students.

The formal part of the event continued with Vitalii Kindzerskyi, Head of the Communications and Branding Department and Chair of the Staff and Lecturers’ Trade Union, who wished the participants inspiration, new discoveries and memorable experiences.

Ambassadors from Chernivtsi National University also expressed their warmest wishes to the project participants.

Following the official proceedings, an exciting tour awaited the students of "Weekend University Day 2026". The programme continued with a tour of the faculties.

The Faculty of Geography organised interactive activities and demonstrations for students of the "Weekend University Day 2026" programme, with the drone presentation proving particularly popular. The project’s students learnt how modern technologies assist in geographical research, nature observation and cartography. Faculty representatives shared their own experiences of studying, projects and active student life.

At the Faculty of Philology, students from the ‘Weekend University 2026’ took part in a variety of activities designed to develop their language and communication skills. They received small prizes for their active participation, whilst students from the faculty spoke about creative projects, student life and interesting aspects of studying, motivating the young people to pursue self-development and creativity.

There are still plenty of exciting meetings, new insights and unforgettable experiences in store for the project participants!
