A charity campaign of distribution of school backpacks and school supplies to children from families with an “internally displaced” status took place on the 21st of August in Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.

Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, non-governmental organization “Ukrainian-German Cultural Society of Chernivtsi”, non-profit organization from Bavaria Lebenshilfe Ostallgäu-Kaufbeuren e.V. became the organizers and partners of the event. The German fund Sternstunden e.V, which supports projects for children across the entire world, provided the funding for everything needed for studying.

The historical territory of the University became the meeting point, which was under the grand oak tree near the former Residence of Bukovinian and Dalmatian Metropolitans.

The head of the NGO “Ukrainian-German Cultural Society of Chernivtsi” Oksana Matijchuk and the chancellor of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University Ruslan Biloskurskyi addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. They emphasized on the importance of supporting people who had to leave their homes because of the war and thanked the partners from Germany for solidarity and support.

An official distribution of backpacks to internally displaced children and teenagers took place after the speeches. The event became an example of partnership of Ukrainian and German organizations regarding humanitarian aid.
