On June 6, the first “CHNU Trade Union Picnic” took place on the grounds of the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Folk Architecture and Life. The event was organised by the Trade Union Committee of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and was attended by over 400 professors and staff members along with their families.
The event featured sports, creative, and children's zones, a charity fair, a concert programme, as well as a location dedicated to the 82nd Separate Bukovynska Air Assault Brigade. The picnic’s informal atmosphere, active leisure, and collaborative creative activities brought colleagues and their families together.
An important highlight of the event was awarding the winners and runners-up of the 1st "Zdorovya" (Health) Championship of the Trade Union. Throughout the academic year, university staff competed in seven sports, demonstrating team spirit and a passion for an active lifestyle.
According to the overall team standings, the Union Bureau team of the Faculty of Physical Education, Sports and Rehabilitation took first place, the team of the Separated Structural Subdivision 'Applied College of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University' came in second, and the Union Bureau team of the Faculty of Law finished third. The champions and medalists were awarded trophies and sportswear sets from the Trade Union, while all other teams received certificates and letters of appreciation for their participation.

The picnic also served a charitable purpose – to support Yurii Bilous, an assistant at the Department of Geography of Ukraine and Regional Studies, and his fellow soldiers from the 82nd Separate Bukovynska Air Assault Brigade.
Owing to the charity fair organised by the CHNU Centre of Culture and Leisure, nearly 30,000 UAH was raised and allocated to meet the needs of Yurii Bilous and his brothers-in-arms.
The University Trade Union expresses its sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the organisation of the event, the Rector’s Office, the Student Bureau heads, deans, directors, partners, volunteers, creative groups, and participants. The greatest support in organising the locations was provided by:
- The Centre of Culture and Leisure of CHNU;
- The Department for Educational Work and Humanitarian Education;
- The Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology and Social Work;
- The Faculty of Physical Education, Sports and Rehabilitation;
- The Faculty of Architecture, Construction, Decorative and Applied Arts; - The Institute of Physical, Technical and Computer Sciences;
- The Department of Communications and Branding.
The first CHNU Trade Union Picnic has shown that the university is more than an educational institution and a workplace – it is a large community of people capable of uniting for the common good. The university’s Trade Union is certain that this event will establish a wonderful tradition within the community.
