The traditional Scientific Picnics, organized by the Council of Young Scientists of the university, for the second time became a platform for presenting the scientific achievements of the faculties and educational and scientific institutes of the university. Visitors had the opportunity to get acquainted with new developments, see demonstrations of experiments and communicate with young researchers.
Panel discussions involving Ukrainian and foreign scientists, educators, and government officials were also held at Alma Mater.
A panel discussion entitled “Internationalization of Higher Education During Wartime: Practices of Sustainability” took place in the Red Hall. The meeting was moderated by Natalia Nechaeva-Yurichuk, associate professor of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the university. Speakers included: Liviu-George Maha, rector of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi (Romania); Stefan cel Mare University of Suceava (Romania) - Stefan Puric, Vice President of the University of Osnabrück (Germany) - Andreas Lenschow, Vice Rector of the West University of Timisoara (Romania) - Vai Cheia, Director of the Institute for German Culture and History in Southeast Europe at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich (Germany) - Florian Vilach-Kürer, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and Digital Transformation - Andriy Verstiak. The participants focused on how war changes educational strategies, approaches to academic mobility, and international partnerships. Successful examples of the resilience of university communities were presented, and further expansion of cooperation between educational institutions in Ukraine, Romania, and Germany was agreed upon in order to support students and teachers in extraordinary circumstances.
The other panel discussion "Quality of Higher Education: Synergy of the State, Universities and Communities for Sustainable Development" was held separately. The meeting was moderated by the President of the International Foundation for Educational Policy Research, a member of the Supervisory Board of our university, Taras Finikov. It was attended by: State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine - Maksym Yarmystyi, Head of the National Qualifications Agency - Yuriy Balanyuk, Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv - Volodymyr Bugrov, Mayor of Chernivtsi, as well as a member of the Supervisory Board of our university - Roman Klichuk. The participants focused on the current challenges of the higher education system and ways to improve its quality. The result of the discussion was having achieved shared vision of the need to consolidate the efforts of state bodies, universities and communities for the sustainable development of the educational field.
A discussion on the topic "Science as a driver of regional breakthrough" was held in the Blue Hall. The moderator was Yuriy Halavka, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. The speakers were: Rector of the University of Suceava (Romania) - Mihai Dimian, former Member of the European Parliament and public activist (Germany) - Rebecca Gars, Director of the Department of Socio-Economic Development and Strategic Planning of the Chernivtsi City Council (Ukraine) - Serhii Bostan. During the discussion, the participants discussed the role of universities in shaping the innovative economy of the region, the prospects for cross-border cooperation and putting into practice scientific for local development. Following the results of the meeting, ways to strengthen partnerships between scientific institutions, government bodies and business for the sustainable growth of the region were outlined.
The events held are evidence that Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University remains a center of scientific development, international dialogue, and social initiatives, combining traditions and modernity to form a strategy for the sustainable development of Ukraine and the region.
