On May 26, the Central Palace of Culture hosted the 4th Theater Battle of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. This year, students brought the plots of iconic films from different generations to the stage — from The Godfather and Pulp Fiction to Cruella and the film The Forbidden: The Story of the Life and Struggle of Vasyl Stus.
The participants and the audience were welcomed by Tetiana Fedirchyk, Vice-Rector Vice-Rector for Education of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, and Yevheniia Blazhevska, Deputy Head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration (RMA) and Head of the Department for Youth and Affirmation of Ukrainian National and Civic Identity.
The event was organized by the Center for Culture and Leisure of ChNU for Students and the Department of Educational Work and Humanitarian Education of ChNU, with the support of the Youth and Sports Department of the Chernivtsi RMA.
Eight teams from the university's faculties and institutes presented their performances on stage. Students reinterpreted famous cinematic stories, combining theater, music, choreography, and modern stage solutions. The Theater Battle once again demonstrated how students at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University honor artistic traditions while boldly exploring new formats and approaches.
During the battle, funds were also raised to repair a pickup truck and purchase medical equipment for Pavlo Anhelskyi, an alumnus of the Institute of Physical, Technical and Computer Sciences, and his 475th Assault Regiment.
According to the competition results, 3rd place was awarded to the Faculty of Law with their performance of Legally Blonde; 2nd place went to the Institute of Physical, Technical and Computer Sciences with their performance of Cabaret; and 1st place was won by the Faculty of Economics with their performance of Pulp Fiction. The Grand Prix of the 4th Theater Battle was awarded to the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science for their performance of The Forbidden: The Story of the Life and Struggle of Vasyl Stus.
The award for Best Actor went to Vira Haradzhiy, and Best Actress was awarded to Yelyzaveta Kvasnytska.
The 4th Theater Battle once again brought students, faculty, and spectators together around creativity, mutual support, and a common cause. Through theater, music, and charity, the participants created a space that blended emotions, teamwork, and a vibrant university atmosphere.
