A joint interdepartmental research team of the Department of Optics, Publishing and Printing and the Department of Computer Sciences of the Institute of Physical, Technical and Computer Sciences of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University gained prestigious international recognition from Wiley, a publishing company.

Wiley is one of the global leaders of academic publishing. It forms trends in the development of contemporary biomedical science and publishes around 10% of scientific journals indexed in Scopus.

“3D digital polarization-holographic wavelet histology in determining the duration of mechanical damage to the myocardium”, a research paper by scientists from Chernivtsi, was published in the Journal of Biophotonics (the first quartile, Q1, Scimago, ~80–90 centile). It became one of the top 10 cited articles in 2024.

The people that were awarded the «Top Cited Article 2025» certificates for this are as follows:
• Oleksandr Ushenko, head of the Department of Optics, Publishing and Printing;
• Yurii Ushenko, head of the Department of Computer Sciences;
• Oleksandr Dubolazov, professor of the Department of Optics, Publishing and Printing;
• Iryna Soltys, associate professor of the Department of Optics, Publishing and Printing.

Journal of Biophotonics is one of the leading scientific journals in the world. It features the most influential research articles in the fields of biophotonics and medical optics. An article being one of the most cited ones in a journal like this is a sign of its high international status, relevance, and significant scientific impact.

This accomplishment is a clear example of productive interdepartmental cooperation and a result of systemic development of the scientific environment in Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.
