Tarvo had already visited Kyiv and interviewed Mykhailo Podoliak and Dmytro Kuleba, senior officials, and Oleksiy Sorokin, founder of «Kyiv Independent». A piece of news about visiting Troieshchyna is being worked on right now. It will be about the capital of Ukraine surviving despite the constant blackouts and about what kind of help it needs. Madsen added with a smile that he would be glad to talk with Roman Klichuk, Chernivtsi’s city mayor. However, Tarvo has been unable to schedule a meeting with him so far because of the mayor’s constant busyness.
The Estonian journalist was particularly interested in how our students see our country and its politics in the future. There was a variety of thoughts, but they all came down to our main priority being fighting corruption and that everything would be easier afterwards. Of course, topics of NATO, Ukraine’s membership in the European Union, and russia’s further expansion were touched upon as well. Tarvo Madsen emphasized that Estonia feels pretty safe right now because of six NATO bases in it.
Tarvo Madsen is convinced that a better future awaits Ukraine as a member of the European Union. We sincerely believe that it will happen soon, since we already have informational support of people from the EU working in media guaranteed.

Tarvo Madsen, Estonian journalist, talked about how Estonia with a population of 1.37 million would defend itself if russia attacked and why the European Union should be faster regarding decision-making about Ukraine on an inter-departmental seminar. Both organizers of the talk (the Department of Journalism) and invited participants (the Department of International Relations and Public Communications of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, local TV channels journalists, students of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University) took part in discussing political and media-related aspects of modern relations of both countries.
Tarvo found time for speaking with future journalists, political scientists, and the teaching staff of the Departments during his «vacation in Chernivtsi» as he called it himself. Madsen was communicating with the audience in English, summing up the questions with «Дякую» (which means «Thank you» in Ukrainian) because he comes from a generation of Estonians that, thankfully, have never known or studied russian. The participants were also pleasantly surprised by his Ukrainian vyshyvanka.
