At the 2025 World Games, currently taking place in Chengdu, China, the Ukrainian national team claimed another medal in karate.

In the over 84 kg weight category, Rizvan Talibov, a 2019 graduate of the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Physical Education, Sports, and Rehabilitation, won the gold medal, confidently defeating the reigning 2022 World Games champion, Croatia’s Andjelo Kvesic, with a score of 4:0 in the final.

In the semifinal, the 27-year-old Ukrainian also left no chances to Iran’s Saleh Abazari, securing another 4:0 victory. This triumph brought Talibov the first World Games medal of his career. Previously, he had twice won bronze medals at the European Championships in individual competitions.

Talibov’s gold became Ukraine’s fourth medal at the 2025 World Games.
