On April 22, the Third Annual Theatre Battle of Faculties and Educational-Scientific Institutes of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University took place at the Central Palace of Culture.
This year, students from nine faculties and educational-scientific institutes took the stage and presented a variety of theatrical performances — from classical European comedies to Ukrainian psychological drama. All participants impressed the audience with their skill, charisma, and sincere enthusiasm for theatre.
The battle program included:
Faculty of Foreign Languages — A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare. Directors: Tetiana Panycheva, Olha Chevela.
Faculty of Geography — Tartuffe by Molière. Director: Oleksandra Babiychuk.
Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology and Social Work — The Kaidash Family by Ivan Nechui-Levytskyi. Director: Izabella Proshchuk.
Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Rehabilitation — The Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldoni. Director: Vira Haradzhii.
Faculty of Law — The Unlucky One by Ivan Karpenko-Karyi. Director: Oleksandra Danyliuk.
Faculty of Economics — The Mad Day, or The Marriage of Figaro by Pierre-Augustin Beaumarchais. Director: Karina Holovachova.
Educational-Scientific Institute of Physics, Engineering and Computer Sciences — The Broken Jug by Heinrich von Kleist. Director: Oleksandr Adamovych.
Faculty of Philology — Chasing Two Hares by Mykhailo Starytskyi. Directors: Nataliia Zakharyuk, Valeriia Dobriakova.
Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations — Between Two Forces by Volodymyr Vynnychenko. Director: Oleksandr Fysiuk.
While the jury was making its decision, the actors and audience sang well-known Ukrainian songs — “Chervona Ruta,” “Hutsulka Ksenia,” and others — creating a special atmosphere of unity and inspiration.
Special thanks go to Kseniia Popovych for her heartfelt performance of the song “The City Sleeps,” as well as to the trio “Sirens” from the “Rosi” vocal studio — Viktoriia Vanzuriak and Anna Koval — for supporting the actors during the emotional moments before the results were announced.
According to the results of the Theatre Battle, the Grand Prix of this year’s competition was awarded to the Educational-Scientific Institute of Physics, Engineering and Computer Sciences for their impressive production of The Broken Jug.
First place went to the Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports, and Rehabilitation, whose interpretation of Carlo Goldoni's “The Servant of Two Masters” captivated the audience.
Second place went to the Faculty of Law with Ivan Karpenko-Kary's profound drama “The Unfortunate,” which left even the most discerning theatergoers impressed.
Third place this year was shared by the Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology, and Social Work, which presented the realistic story “The Kaidashev Family,” and the Faculty of History, Political Science, and International Relations, which showed the audience Vladimir Vinnichenko's drama “Between Two Forces.”
The special award “Actress of the Year” went to Vira Haradzhii, a student of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Rehabilitation, and the award “Actor of the Year” was given to Oleksandr Adamovych, a student of the Educational-Scientific Institute of Physics, Engineering and Computer Sciences.
The organizers express sincere gratitude to the jury members — Mykola Shkribliak, Kristina Zborliukova, Ivan Petrusiak, Marta Shumilova, Ihor Demianiuk, Viktor Bulyza, and Larysa Kushnir — for their professionalism, objectivity, and love for theatre.
