A taste of student life: the second Saturday of the "Weekend University Day" at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University

On 18 April, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University hosted the second saturday of "Weekend University Day", organised by the Communications and Branding Department in collaboration with the university’s ambassadors. The event brought together prospective students, who had the opportunity to gain a closer insight into the academic programmes and atmosphere of three faculties.

The Faculty of Economics was the first to welcome the guests. The Deputy Dean for Career Guidance delivered a welcome address, outlining the faculty’s structure, study programmes and opportunities for students. The anti-lectures focused on the importance of developing one’s own business, understanding the market and acquiring basic economic knowledge, which students of the Faculty of Economics begin to learn from their first year onwards. Project participants were told about career guidance tests available to anyone interested. Students from the "Weekend University Day" also took a quiz to assess their economic potential. Other speakers shared their experiences of studying, opportunities for development and the activities of student organisations.

The next stop was the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations. The participants were welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty, who outlined the faculty’s activities and achievements and spoke about its notable alumni, including public figures, local government officials and media representatives. The project students were introduced to the educational programmes, fields of study and employment prospects. The discussion also covered the specifics of studying historical processes, modern approaches to teaching and the importance of critical thinking when analysing historical events. Senior students shared their own experiences, spoke about the learning process and the opportunities for international exchanges.

The Faculty of Foreign Languages was the final stop. Participants were divided into four groups according to their departments, namely:

This format made the introduction to the faculty dynamic, engaging and as closely aligned as possible with modern educational approaches.

Afterwards, everyone gathered together, where the faculty management spoke about the faculty itself, its opportunities and study prospects. Representatives of student organisations also shared information about their activities, opportunities for students and the vibrant student life.

The project gives prospective students the opportunity not only to gain new insights, but also to feel part of the university community, which helps them make a more informed decision about their future career path. There are still plenty of interesting meetings and new experiences to come.
