On October 3, a celebration of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University’s anniversary was held in the Chernivtsi Philharmonic Hall.
The event commenced with a meeting between the university’s rector, Ruslan Biloskurskyi, and the honoured guests. Words were spoken about the rich history of the university. A video presentation followed, featuring artificially recreated historic figures and archival photographs, as well as some scenes from the university’s recent life.
The student choir «Resonance», laureate of international competitions and festivals, added a special touch to the occasion. The collective is known for its professionalism and wide musical repertoire that includes Ukrainian and world classics. The ensemble serves as a calling card of the Chernivtsi National University, directed by their permanent leader Olha Churikova-Kushnir, professor of the Department of Music and Honoured Arts Figure of Ukraine. It was «Resonance» that solemnly performed the National Anthem of Ukraine and presented a composition titled «Bukovyno!».
As a mark of respect, a minute of silence was observed for the Fallen Heroes of Ukraine – graduates, professors, staff, and students of the Chernivtsi National University who gave their lives for the country. In addition, as part of the event, funds were raised in order to support Oleksiy Khudyi, professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology who is in service at the moment, by providing him with a drone.
The anniversary programme combined musical and choreographic performances. Bukovynian Honoured Academic Song and Dance Ensemble presented a choreographic suite «Bukovynian family». Pavlo Dvorsky delighted the audience with the songs «Dicitencello vuje» and «Skazhit, Divchata»; a finalist of the television show «Ukraine’s Got Talent», Andrii Stovpiuk, delivered the instrumental composition «Bureviy». The event also featured the Department of Music’s ethnic band «Folkmodern», the duet of Heorhiy and Iryna Postevko with the song The Prayer.
